Find a premium level that is right for you and compare the coverage offered by both companies for that amount.  You may be able to call the company or go to their website and start out with the premium you can afford to pay and then have them tell you what benefits you could get for that amount.  Obviously, you need to weigh the benefits against the cost and simply come to a point where the two seem balanced.

If you have pre-existing conditions you are not likely to get them covered immediately.  There is usually a waiting period.  If the condition is extremely serious, it may never be covered.  Take all the factors into consideration and the most affordable individual health insurance coverage will be apparent to you.  Having some coverage is always better than having none.
